MORTICE LOCK

Gate Security Products

Gates to your home and garden need to be secure almost as much as your front door. Clearly you don't need multi point locks, but gates offer perimeter protection as a barrier and can be secured to provide a certain amount of protection.

There are two basic lock options for gates, whether they are short garden gates or door type gates. The most suitable locks are rim locks or padlocks and hasps.

Rim locks are a very basic form of mortice lock but fits on the door/gate itself whereas a mortice lock requires installing inside the door. Prices start from around £10/£12 upwards.

Rim locks are also called 'night latches'.

Wrought iron gates require a different type of fitting and can be welded to the gate. The more expensive locks have extra security aspects but don't be surprised to see them around £150.

If you opt for a padlock, would a combination lock be better rather than carrying a key?
